Suzanne, ‘Suzy’ Glowiak Hilton is a mom, engineer, and volunteer. Suzy and her late husband Steve were married for 35 years and have raised three children in Western Springs. She and her family have lived in the Western Suburbs for 25 years.
Suzy grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago where she graduated from Carl Sandburg High School. She continued her education at the Illinois Institute of Technology, completing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Suzy went on to pursue a successful career in engineering consulting where she, through report writing and expert testimony, assists her clients in conflict resolution. Following her early professional success and after taking the time to care for a young family, Suzy obtained a Master’s Degree from Northwestern University in Manufacturing Engineering.
Community involvement and public service have always been priorities in Suzy’s life. She is an active member of the First Congregational Church of Western Springs and was an active school volunteer when her children were young. Prior to joining the State Senate, Suzy served two terms on the Western Springs Village Board.
Suzy was first elected to the Illinois Senate in 2018. As State Senator, she has been fighting for quality education for Illinois students, common sense gun laws that help keep our communities safe, and protections for women’s reproductive health rights.
Suzy will continue to use her proven skills as an empathetic leader, problem solver, and dedicated public servant to help fix the problems facing Springfield as State Senator of the 23rd District.
